About Coach Z

For the past 30+ years, I have been lucky enough to teach the game of basketball to 5 year old beginners to professional players from all over NC, the USA, and Europe.   I started my coaching career at Greensboro Day School and went on to coach at Jordan HS, Durham Academy, Northern Durham High School, and most recently at Cary Academy.  My passion is teaching the game and the essential skills necessary for success on and off the court.

My #1 goal is to raise each player's skill level so that they have more fun playing the game.  More Skill = More Fun!   From beginners to professional players, the number one reason we all play is to have FUN.    If players lack a major skill like shooting, weak hand dribbling, or passing vision, they will eventually become frustrated.  During our workouts, players will work extremely hard to attack their weaknesses and turn their strengths into weapons.

Throughout my life, I have been truly blessed by the game of basketball.  I have met so many amazing people and learned  many valuable life lessons.  I have a strong passion to give back as much as possible.  I use basketball as a tool to help players learn the essential skills necessary for success on and off the court.
